Gayle King Shares Her Top Parenting Rule: No Guilt Allowed

Gayle King, the longtime co-host of CBS Mornings, recently sat down with Alex Cooper on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy. Cooper, who is expecting her first child, asked King for the best piece of parenting advice she could offer. King did not hesitate. Her answer was direct and simple: "Don't let anyone make you feel guilty."

King explained that new parents, especially mothers, face a constant stream of unsolicited opinions. Relatives, friends, and even strangers feel entitled to judge every decision, from feeding schedules to sleep routines. King told Cooper that the pressure to be perfect is overwhelming, but it is also a trap. She urged the host to trust her own instincts and ignore the noise.

The veteran journalist also reflected on her own experience raising two children while building a demanding career. She admitted that she made mistakes and that no parent gets it right all the time. But she stressed that guilt only drains energy and clouds judgment. Instead, she advised Cooper to focus on what works for her family, not on what others expect.

King's message resonated with many listeners who are tired of the judgment that often comes with parenting. Her advice was not a list of rules or techniques. It was a reminder that confidence, not perfection, is what children really need from their parents.
